Are you struggling with exercise in this chapter of life? Finding the right exercise routine can be a transformative journey, especially as our bodies, hormones, and lifestyles evolve. So, what’s the best exercise for this chapter of life? The answer is simple: the one you do and the one you love.

This is not the time to chase after the latest fitness trends or conform to what everyone else is doing. Instead, it’s time to embrace your uniqueness and find activities that resonate with YOU! Whether it's dancing, swimming, yoga, Pilates, or hiking, choose exercises that make you feel good and bring you joy. The key is to engage in activities that not only challenge you but also enhance your well-being.

Manage Cortisol and Hormone Levels

Cortisol seems to be at an all time high in mid-life ...life is stressful! This stress hormone has a negative effect on our overall health and weight management. The right exercise can help manage these cortisol levels, reducing stress and promoting a sense of calm. Sometimes, a gentle yin yoga class may be more beneficial than a demanding 5 km run (or vice versa). When you're stressed aim for calming and restorative practices. Save the HIIT workout for the days you aren't feeling frazzled.

Strength Training is Essential

Strength training is NECESSARY for women over 40. It helps build and maintain muscle mass, improves bone density, and enhances overall functional fitness. It will strengthen your body and support your joints. Start with bodyweight exercises or resistance bands. But if you really want to help your hormone health lift HEAVY weights!

Care for Your Neurofascial System

Incorporating practices like the MELT Method can help care for your neurofascial system, which is essential for maintaining mobility and preventing injuries. MELT focuses on self-care techniques that release tension, improve circulation, and enhance your body's ability to move freely. This can be especially beneficial in managing the physical changes that come with aging.

Listen to Your Body

Above all, listen to your body. Instead of just going through the motions, pay attention to how each exercise feels. Are you enjoying it? Does it energize you? Or does it leave you feeling drained? Tune into your body’s signals and adjust your routine as needed. This mindful approach not only enhances your fitness experience but also helps you cultivate a deeper connection with your body.
