When we think of self-care, we often picture bubble baths, spa days, or setting aside time for relaxation. While those things have their place, the most powerful act of self-care isn’t about doing more—it’s about knowing yourself deeply.
Know your priorities. Know your values. Have a vision for your life.
I’ve been a fan of time blocking for years. I used to schedule my entire life in 15-minute increments, believing that if I maximized my time, I’d be more productive, more efficient, and ultimately, more successful. But instead, I found myself overwhelmed and exhausted.
Why? Because I was filling my schedule with tasks rather than purpose. I had no space for creativity, no room for error, and no flexibility for life’s natural flow.
So I stopped doing ALL the things. I let go of the colour-coded, hyper-scheduled approach and chose a new way—one that aligned with my values, my priorities, and my vision. Now, I do fewer things, but I do them better. With more joy. With more authenticity.
If you’re ready to simplify and create a life that truly reflects you, here are some steps to get started:
Identify Your Core Values – What truly matters to you? Family, health, growth, creativity, adventure? Write down your top five values and use them as your guide when making decisions.
Clarify Your Priorities – What do you want to focus on? What drains your energy versus what fuels it? Let go of anything that doesn’t serve your vision.
Create a Vision for Your Life – Where do you want to be in one year, five years, or ten? Picture it, write it down, and let it shape your choices.
Practice Saying No – If something doesn’t align with your values and vision, say no without guilt. Protect your time and energy.
Build in White Space – Give yourself room to breathe. Schedule less. Leave space for spontaneity, rest, and creative flow.
Check-In Regularly – Self-awareness is an ongoing practice. Reflect weekly: Am I honoring my values? Am I prioritizing what truly matters?
Doing Less, But Living More
When you know yourself deeply, decision-making becomes easier. You stop filling your days with obligations that don’t align with your purpose. You start living with more intention, more joy, and more fulfillment.
So, I challenge you: take a step back, reflect, and simplify. The most powerful act of self-care is choosing to live in alignment with who you truly are. Are you ready to do less—but live more?
