It’s been a few weeks since we “sprang forward” for daylight savings time, and if you’re still feeling a bit off, you’re not alone. The time change can disrupt our sleep-wake cycle, making it harder to fall asleep, wake up refreshed, and feel energized throughout the day.

Why Sleep Matters

Sleep is one of the most powerful ways we nurture ourselves. It’s when our body focuses on restoration and repair—muscles rebuild, hormones regulate, and our brain processes and stores information. Prioritizing quality sleep is a cornerstone of overall well-being, helping us feel vibrant, resilient, and ready to take on the day.

The good news? With a few small adjustments, you can help your body reset and improve your sleep quality.

Simple Strategies to Improve Sleep After Daylight Savings Time

1. Get Morning Sunlight

Exposure to natural light in the morning helps regulate your circadian rhythm and signals your body to wake up. Try stepping outside for a few minutes or enjoying your morning coffee by a bright window.

2. Stick to a Sleep Schedule

Going to bed and waking up at the same time each day (even on weekends!) helps your body adjust. Consistency strengthens your body’s internal clock, making it easier to fall asleep and wake up refreshed.

3. Limit Evening Screen Time

The blue light from screens can interfere with melatonin production, making it harder to fall asleep. Try dimming the lights and avoiding screens at least an hour before bedtime to support your body’s natural sleep cycle.

4. Create a Relaxing Evening Routine

A warm bath, gentle stretching, MELT Method techniques, or a few minutes of reading can help signal your body that it’s time for rest. Occasionally, I use a sleep health supplement to make the transition to sleep easier.

5. Support Your Sleep with Magnesium

Magnesium can help relax your muscles and nervous system, promoting deeper sleep. I’ve personally seen great benefits from adding this magnesium blend to my routine!

Nurturing Your Sleep, Nurturing Yourself

Your sleep is a direct reflection of how well you nurture yourself. When you prioritize rest, you’re supporting your energy, mood, metabolism, and overall well-being.

How are you adjusting to the time change? Shoot me an email —I’d love to hear what’s helping you reset!
